Remeha heating helps improve energy efficiency at British Museum

A Remeha Gas 610 Eco Pro 8-section condensing boiler has been installed at the British Museum in London in the first phase of an ongoing maintenance and replacement programme to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions at the world’s first national public museum. Facility management services provider Carillion specified the Remeha 610 Eco Pro boiler to replace the failing pressure jet boiler in the museum’s energy centre boiler house. The high efficiencies of the Remeha 610 Eco Pro easily meet the heat demand of the museum while the low CO2 and NOx emissions will help the museum meet its environmental commitments.

With heating accounting for around half the energy use of a building, the exceptionally high heating efficiency of the Remeha boiler is predicted to cut energy use significantly at the museum, delivering considerable savings in operating costs. The British Museum was awarded the Carbon Trust Standard in 2009 for its achievements in reducing its carbon footprint; with the installation of the Remeha replacement boiler, it can look forward to reducing the environmental impact of its operations one stage further.

Founded in 1753, the British Museum is the UK’s most popular visitor attractions. Centred around the magnificent Great Court, the remarkable, world-famous collection spans two million years of human history and includes objects such as the Rosetta Stone, the Parthenon sculptures and the Egyptian mummies.

The Remeha Gas 310/610 Eco Pro range delivers exceptional, higher- than-average annual efficiencies of up to 109.6% (NCV) together with excellent ultra low-NOx emissions of ≥36 at 0% O2 and minimum CO2 emissions. The pre-mix burner (NG) with its gas/air ratio control system ensures clean operation and smooth, trouble-free operation. The small footprint of the Remeha Gas 310/610 Eco Pro and its ability to be installed side-to-side makes it ideal for modular configuration and increased installation design flexibility. Offering both conventional and room-sealed flue system capability, the boiler can be sited almost anywhere within a building.
