Remeha boilers at heart of heating refurb for residential estate

Three Remeha Gas 610 Eco Pro boilers have been installed at Ruskin Park House, a private residential estate in Camberwell, London, to provide reliable, energy-efficient heating and hot water across the three apartment buildings.

Developed in the late 1940s by London County Council, Ruskin Park House contains a total of 241 flats ranging in size from studios to large three-bedroom family homes. Today, the property is owned by its residents through the non-profit making association Ruskin Park House Limited.

When the time came to replace the ageing forced-draft gas boilers, the prime consideration of the residents was to improve the reliability and energy efficiency of the heating and hot water provision across the property. Nigel Gorely, Associate Director at BSW Heating, a leading provider of commercial and residential heating and maintenance services, specified three Remeha Gas 610 9-section boilers to meet the heat demand in a complete redesign of the plant room.

“Remeha products are our boilers of choice as they offer high performance and excellent quality supported by equally impressive service,” said Mr Gorely.

The newly designed heating system, which has the Remeha boilers at its heart, includes a new cold water storage tank and buffer vessel, a boosted domestic system and new heating circuits for high performance, energy-saving heating and hot water delivery.

The heating refurbishment has brought an added advantage in the shape of an extra room. Due to the compact size of the new Remeha Gas 610 Eco Pro boilers, BSW Heating has been able to partition the original plant room into two separate rooms, providing valuable additional space for the benefit of the residents.

The versatility and compact dimensions of the Remeha boilers were key factors in the design of the new plant room. “Firstly, the 610s come on wheels, making them easy to manoeuvre into position,” said Mr Gorely. “They can also be installed side to side which provides greater flexibility for plant room layout design. When it came to installation, the boilers fitted in well. All in all, it’s a nice job.”

The more efficient heating and hot water delivered by the new Remeha Gas 610 Eco Pro boilers, with efficiencies of up to 96.2% GCV and ultra-low NOx and carbon emissions, will reduce energy consumption at Ruskin Park House by an anticipated 30%. Residents at Ruskin Park House can therefore look forward to considerably lower heating bills in the months ahead.

The Remeha 610 Eco Pro range of fully-assembled, free-standing, fully-modulating, high-efficiency, gas-fired condensing boilers are available with outputs from 69 to 1303 kW. This ‘renewable-ready’ range can be connected with both CHP units and renewable technologies for maximum efficiency.
