Remeha Quinta Ace boilers boost efficiency at Primary School

Remeha Quinta Ace boilers have been installed at Colquhoun Park Primary and Nursery School in Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire to meet the requirements for a time and space-saving solution to provide more energy-efficient heating.

When the existing floor standing boilers reached end of life, the School, which is run by East Dunbartonshire Council, had a number of requirements for its new boilers. First was the need to ensure a rapid, quality heating solution that would improve thermal comfort for its children and staff while driving down energy usage and associated carbon emissions. Continuity of service was also key as the works needed to be carried out during term time. A third requirement was for a free-standing solution to improve spatial coordination within the plant room.

Four Remeha Quinta Ace 160 replacement boilers with a Remeha free-standing cascade kit and low loss header were specified by Consultants Rybka to meet the demand for more reliable, efficient heating and hot water in a quality, time-saving solution. The design arrangement resolved plant room constraints at the school while use of a containerised temporary boiler plant room ensured no disruption to heating and hot water service during the construction period.

Glasgow-based Valley Group were appointed M&E contractors on the project.

“A key benefit of Remeha’s wall-hung boilers is that they are compact and easy to fit, both particularly useful features on this project to meet the space and installation time restrictions,” said Jason Hamilton, Mechanical Contracts Manager at Valley Group.

“The boiler cascade frame and header kits are cleverly designed for straightforward installation without the need for welding, which was a major advantage at Colquhoun Park Primary School to further reduce disruption and installation time,” he added.

“The project went very smoothly and the Baxi technical sales team were supportive throughout. We fit a lot of Remeha boilers in schools and they helped us to ensure an excellent outcome for the School.”

The Quinta Ace range is available in eight models with outputs from 30 to 160. The boilers offer low-emission heating to maximise energy savings and are eligible for two BREEAM credits when configured at commissioning. Their compact and lightweight design makes them easy to install in smaller places with a choice of several different complete cascade systems and headers making cascade arrangements as simple and flexible as possible.

Hybrid-ready, the Quinta Ace range is designed to be expandable, adaptable and future proof for the non-domestic sector.
